About the Artist
Cindy Peterson is a self-taught classical realist oil painter who lives and works in the lakeshore area of West Michigan.
She earned a Bachelor of Science at Michigan State University in Merchandise Management. Her fine art education includes studying in the Atelier of renowned author and painter Juliette Aristides of the Gage Academy in Seattle, WA as well as the Thimgan Hayden Atelier. Peterson also utilizes on line instruction, artist workshops and art books.
Influenced by the Dutch Golden Age painters such as Vermeer, Rembrandt and Chardin, she fell in love with the traditional method of painting used by these artists.
The rich simplicity of Cindy’s exceptional art springs from her attention to detail and uncanny ability to capture the essence of her subject. The objects have a depth and spirit that reflect their core being. While painting still life objects, her gifted touch reflects the significance of each piece and the qualities that make it special.
Peterson’s work had been represented by LaFontsee Galleries, Grand Rapids MI. and J. Petter Galleries in Douglas, MI. Her work can be found in private collections around the world. Cindy now sells her paintings directly to her clients via private appointments in her studio, studio shows or through her website.
She won a place in the juried West Michigan Area Show at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in 2010 and is a member of the Saugatuck – Douglas Art Club.
